How to delete your Kiwi account and what happens to your data

We understand that you may want to delete your Kiwi account. This page explains how to delete your account and what happens to your personal information when you do.

How to Delete Your Account

Method 1: Through the Kiwi App

  1. Open the Kiwi app on your device
  2. Go to Settings (gear icon in the top right)
  3. Scroll down to “Account” section
  4. Tap “Delete Account”
  5. Follow the confirmation prompts
  6. Enter your password to confirm deletion

Method 2: Contact Support

If you can't access the app or prefer to delete via email:

  1. Send an email to legal@kiwifinance.app
  2. Include “Account Deletion Request” in the subject line
  3. Provide your account email address
  4. We'll process your request within 48 hours

What Happens When You Delete Your Account

⚠️ Important: This Action Cannot Be Undone

Once you delete your account, all your data will be permanently removed and cannot be recovered.

Data That Will Be Deleted

  • Account Information: Your email address, name, phone number, and profile data
  • Financial Data: All transaction history, account balances, and spending categories
  • Budget Information: All budgets, goals, and financial targets you've created
  • Subscription Data: All tracked subscriptions and recurring payments
  • App Settings: All preferences, notifications settings, and customizations
  • Connected Accounts: All linked bank accounts and financial institution connections
  • Payment Information: Stored payment methods and billing history
  • Support History: All previous support tickets and communications

Data Retention Timeline

  • Immediate Deletion: Most personal data is deleted within 24 hours
  • Financial Records: Some financial data may be retained for up to 7 years for legal compliance
  • Anonymized Data: Aggregated, non-personal data may be retained for product improvement
  • Backup Systems: Data may exist in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before permanent deletion

Before You Delete Your Account

Consider These Alternatives

  • Pause Your Subscription: You can cancel your subscription without deleting your account
  • Disconnect Accounts: Remove linked financial accounts while keeping your Kiwi account
  • Export Your Data: Download your financial data before deletion (available in Settings)
  • Contact Support: If you're having issues, our support team may be able to help

What to Do Before Deletion

  • Export any important financial data you want to keep
  • Cancel any active subscriptions through Kiwi
  • Disconnect all linked financial accounts
  • Update any third-party services that may depend on your Kiwi account
  • Save any important insights or reports you've created

After Account Deletion

What You Can Expect

  • You'll receive a confirmation email within 24 hours
  • You won't be able to log into your account
  • All Kiwi app data will be removed from your devices
  • You can create a new account anytime with the same email address
  • Any remaining subscription time will be forfeited

Third-Party Services

Note that deleting your Kiwi account does not automatically disconnect your accounts from third-party services like:

  • Your bank accounts (you'll need to revoke access through your bank's website)
  • Plaid or other financial data aggregators
  • App Store or Google Play subscriptions (cancel these separately)
